Learning to sign heightens awareness, empathy for the deaf

The University of Miami will offer an ASL minor this Fall in response to many people becoming interested in the Deaf community through the University’s ASL club. Kirsten Schwarz, a lecturer, teaches how ASL classes work and is the club’s advisor. She discussed how the club expanded and how ASL can help people better connect with the Deaf community.
