Football Coach Doesn’t Let Hearing Impairment Stop Him from Helping Young Players
After a month of canceled football games and trainings due to the pandemic, student athletes are traveling to Enfield, Connecticut, where Craig Brayden runs a training camp. What many students don’t expect is that Coach Brayden is deaf.
Communication is the first worry on the kids’ minds, but Craig quickly proves his talent as an instructor through the use of body language, reading lips, and teaching by example. His son Daron refers to him as a “visual teacher.”
The players who train with Craig often remark on his ability to teach with character. Craig doesn’t just train athletes, but he gives information about life and how good players keep trying. Overcoming hurdles has to do with how you “attack the day.”
