A bright future with a fun journey: Oliver Boehme
Oliver is a confident eight-year-old who was born with hearing loss and now wears hearing aids. Rocking blue and clear tiger-eye swirled earmolds, he loves being unique. Oliver was born in Madison, Wisconsin, to a father from Germany and a mother from Ohio, making him a dual citizen of Germany and the U.S. He has a younger brother named Fritz. A third-grader at Edgewood Campus School, Oliver has deaf and hard of hearing friends, as well as hearing friends. According to Oliver, his friends are not only understanding of his hearing loss, but also have a lot of fun using his FM system during class. To add to the fun, his teacher attached his FM microphone to a large ruler that has been designed to look like a regular microphone. Oliver enjoys all sports, especially basketball, soccer, and football. “I want to be a professional football player and play for the Seattle Seahawks, just like Derrick Coleman,” says Oliver. However, Oliver has not limited his future goals to just football; his fascination with computers and math has prompted other aspirations to be a scientist and a robot inventor.
